Supermarkets in Shenzhen will bid farewell to plastic bags

Shenzhen municipal government has recently come up with the Regulations on Environment Protection for Shenzhen Municipal City (Amendments), according to which, consumers will have to pay for plastic bags in Shenzhen. Any operators violating the regulations by providing free plastic bags to consumers will be subject to a fine of 5000 to 50 000 Yuan.

By the regulations, operators should meanwhile offer paid recyclable bags or baskets to the customers when priced plastic bags are available. Otherwise, he will also be fined 5000 to 50000 Yuan.

It¡¯s learned that the regulations is now open to public advice and suggestions.
